Objective To assess the value of ictal video-electroencephalography monitoring (IVEEG) in presurgical evaluation for medically intractable nonlesional temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE).
Cases of porencephaly and global atrophyof the temporal lobe were highly related to prenatal or perinatal insults including preterm delivery and asphyxia.
Other important structures found within the temporal lobe include the olfactory cortex, which processes the sensation of smell, and the amygdala which processes emotions.
